This came in with some switching and output issues, ie the channels didn’t switch and there was no output. We rolled up our sleeves and got stuck in, finally narrowing the issue down to some very out-of-spec resistors. After a complete run through of all the resistor, capacitor values, then the voltages and waveforms on the scope, we were happy enough to go into a bit of upgrading.
Usual power supply rebuild with Nichicons and a choke, then onto some tonal enhancement using our JCM2000 DSL as a guide.
We also managed to find a vintage Celestion G12-T70, the smoother precurser to the G12-T70, to swap in, turning this into a beautiful high gain scooped monster.
If that isn’t your bag then no worries, we also have a selection of pre-loved Celestions in stock for you to try out and upgrade with!
