Pedal Baby? Or pedal MUTHA!!!

Solid-state Simms-Watts 100 Watt amplifier from the late 1970’s when, like a lot of the small amp manufacturers, they made the move from valve to transistor based amps. Simms-Watts were a small manufacturer from the 1960’s to 1970’s known for their insanely well built valve amplifiers (listed in the Reverb ‘six British amp brands worth tracking down’) & their design collaboration with ‘Monty Python’.
Because of their high-quality reputation, we suspect that this is going to be pretty special for an early SS amplifier.

The amp is on it’s way from the UK, so we’ll update this as we research & find more info about it. However, given the recent re-enthusiasm for solid state amps* to use as the power section for a modeling pedal, we reckon this amp could be an awesome way to add some vintage vibe, power and tones whilst your modelling pedal provides the sculpting.
Plus, from what we’ve read, the Fuzz channel on this amp is amazing!

Rebuild

It’ll be be serviced & recapped with top quality Nichicon filter capacitors. Other components (e.g. capacitors and resistors) will be tested, and where needed/appropriate replaced with the same NOS or as-similar-as-we-can components.

Revoice

As this is a beautifully made vintage amp we have not made any changes to the voicing of this amp.

Refurb

With regards to refurbishment, we’ll clean the tolex and remove any rust or markings from the chassis. Otherwise, from what we can see, this amp looks super-cool!
